Root and Fruit

Root and Fruit

One of the great deceptions in the church is how Satan has convinced us that we are forgiven, but we still have the nature of Adam, and that we are always going to be slaves to sin and its effects. Just a sinner, saved by grace.

Satan has convinced us that both sin and righteousness are behaviors only, the fruit of our lives. Biblically speaking, both words also describe our nature or the root of our beings. Let me explain.

The root of righteousness is the state of him who is as he ought to be, or the nature of man as God originally designed. When God created Adam, he was made in God’s image or made right. ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

The fruit of righteousness is intimacy with God, health, prosperity, blessings, favor, love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

The root of sin is separation from God or to be without God in nature. Satan convinced Eve that if she ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil her life would be better, that God was holding out on her. The truth is that the tree represented independence or separation from the nature of God. The moment they ate the tree they lost both the nature of God and the intimate relationship they had with him.

The fruit of sin is isolation, sickness, poverty, curse’s, self-centeredness, sorrow, stress, impatience, evil, disloyalty, indulgence.

Righteousness has been restored. ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” Jesus took on the nature of sin that came through Adam and killed it off and gave us his righteousness or restored us back to the image and likeness of God.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭5‬ ‭TPT‬‬ “For since we are permanently grafted into him to experience a death like his, then we are permanently grafted into him to experience a resurrection like his and the new life that it imparts.” When Jesus went into the grave, he took both the root and the fruit of sin, and we were joined together in His death and the fallen nature of Adam was killed off.

When Jesus rose from the grave victorious over sin, Satan, and death, we were joined together in His victory and the righteousness of man was restored and now with this new nature we can live a life that glorifies God.

Satan has convinced the church that God only pardons our sin (fruit) but he leaves us with the nature of Adam. Instead of teaching people their true identity (righteousness) and how to walk in the spirit, we tell them they still have a sin nature, and we teach them how to manage their flesh. It’s like putting makeup on a corpse. Now matter how hard you try you are still dead.

The Bible is extremely clear about what Jesus did.

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

This truly is the too good to be true news, or the gospel. Hallelujah!
